Basic Function and Scope of the Position
As a member of the McAfee Consumer system security product management team, the Technical Product Manager (TPM) defines the vision, strategy, and objectives for McAfee Security Scan and similar products. He/she interacts with customers and channel partners to understand user problems, obtain feedback on existing products, and identify solutions. The TPM synthesizes these inputs into roadmaps, business plans, and product requirements and socializes these with management, partners, and McAfee employees. The TPM works closely with engineering, marketing, sales, support, and partners to execute on requirements and to position and launch new products and suites.
Specific Responsibilities/Functions
• Manages all aspects of the product life cycle for McAfee Security Scan and similar consumer security products and components.
• Identifies unmet consumer needs and opportunities; assesses competitive products and strategies; develops product roadmaps and business plans; defines and prioritizes product requirements, features and functionality.
• Acts as a liaison between engineering, marketing, sales, partners, and support.
• Utilizes strategic insight and organizational skills to develop forecasts, monitor competitive activity, and identify product differentiation opportunities.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
• 7-10 years of work experience.
• 3-6 years of experience in software product management, preferably in consumer software; security experience a plus.
• Strong business/financial skills and hands-on experience interacting with customers and channel partners.
• Technical background or proficiency.
• Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
• Proven experience driving numerous parallel initiatives.
