McAfee’s mobile security division is seeking veteran software engineers for the Android and BlackBerry platforms. This senior software development role will be a key member of our mobile team, working on a variety of client/server features, architectural designs and integration framework. Successful candidates will join a fast-paced global team dedicated to producing best-in-class security products for the mobile industry.
Basic Function and Scope of the Position:
Working independently and as part of a team developing new product features from concept to release. In addition, you will be working with other product teams as part of a cross-site integration organization to build and deliver a suite of security features for smart phones and tablets.You will also be responsible for extending and refactoring existing code to update features and improve integration and performance.
Specific Responsibilities/Functions:
Responsible to perform a variety of software development related activities including:
- Prototyping and developing new mobile features for our mobile security suite
- Investigating mobile landscape for new or innovative technology solutions
- Building applications and tools that push the boundaries of the mobile OS
- Participation in project sizing/estimating process and identification of key engineering tasks
- Participate in configuration management duties, including build ownership, branching and maintenance
- Communication with members of the engineering team, as well as with various cross-functional teams
- Most importantly innovate, create and find cool new ways to deliver products and features to customers. Also be part of a dynamic team in an engineering-friendly environment and bring a strong sense of direction to your daily activities.
Experience
10-12 years of software development experience using one or more of: Java/J2ME, C/C++ and XML.
8+ years of development experience on embedded systems or mobile platform technologies.
4-6 years of experience in BlackBerry or Android framework and SDK (experience with HAL, kernel and NDK is a plus).
5+ years of development experience in client-server applications.
Knowledge of Internet protocols HTTP, DNS & TCP/IP.
Experience in unit testing.
Exposure on UI development.
Experience on agile development projects.
